These are the latest statistics on women’s participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in the UK.

The report provides a snapshot of the current position, from classroom to boardroom, based on data available as of April 2015. It updates the previous report, WISE Statistics 2012, showing the trends. WISE publishes this report to provide evidence of progress, milestones and areas of concern. The good news is that more women are studying STEM subjects. However, progress is far too slow to make a significant impact on the STEM workforce. In some areas, including professional roles in technology, the gender gap is getting wider.
