Paul Kilworth – GCHQ, James Holland – Collins Aerospace, and Lydia Fairman – Network Rail will present on regional initiatives launched by their companies, before we separate into three breakout rooms that will be hosted by a further three member companies.

Breakout 1 – Engagement with the local economy,

Session Lead: Anne Nortcliffe, Canterbury Christ Church University

  • Ways organisations might set up their divisions with a view to benefitting the local economy.
  • How organisations might locate STEM divisions in regions that receive government funding to develop local skills.
  • Challenges around this sort of engagement and how to overcome them.

Breakout 2 – Reskilling and upskilling regionally based staff

Session Lead: Rosa Wells, Solihull College & University Centre

  • How organisations might reskill and upskill their regionally-based staff particularly where they are located in different regions.
  • The best way of successfully running hybrid working schemes that employ regional staff, and how these practices can increase an organisation’s talent pool as well as benefit the local economy.
  • The conversation will also look at ways organisations can successfully onboard, reskill and upskill their regionally-based staff.

Breakout 3 – Outreach opportunities with regional hubs and local educational partners

Session Lead: Lauren Little, Ørsted
