Georgina Andrew

Structural Engineer, Amey

What is your favourite thing about your job? Knowing that the work I do will have a lasting impact. As a Structural Engineer working on highway bridges, it’s incredibly rewarding to help maintain ageing infrastructure, keep people safe, support connected communities, and ensure the economy keeps moving.

How did you get into STEM? In high school, I really enjoyed my engineering science classes, and in 2017, I was awarded an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship. Through this, I was sponsored and mentored by Balfour Beatty for two years, which opened my eyes to the world of civil engineering and construction. After that, in 2019, I gained a place as a Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice at Amey.

Fun fact: I’ve been a highland dancer since the age of 3. I travel the world competing and performing in large shows.
