WISE Leadership Development Programme

Develop your leadership potential through a new programme from the IET, enriched by the expertise of WISE – now part of the IET family and recognised leaders in advancing women in STEM.

This 6-month cross-sector programme is designed specifically for women in STEM, and new to or aspiring to leadership roles.

Delivered with experienced leadership coaches, senior mentors and industry experts, this programme blends high impact in-person learning, tailored coaching and cross-industry collaboration.

This programme will enable participants to step into leadership roles with clarity, confidence, credibility and purpose – while building the networks, skills and visibility needed to progress.

Delivered by an expert team of trainers and coaches, including our WISE delivery team. WISE has over 40 years of experience supporting women in STEM.

Key learning objectives

• Build influential, cross‑sector networks and purposeful professional relationships.
• Lead with clarity, confidence, and impact in diverse and challenging environments.
• Communicate expertise and values with authority—becoming visible ambassadors for inclusive leadership.
• Use personal stories authentically to inspire, influence, and support others.
• Recognise and challenge workplace biases while modelling everyday inclusive behaviours.
• Develop strategies and plans that support wellbeing, navigate work–life demands, and drive career progression.

Who should attend

This course is specifically tailored for women in STEM who are new to or aspiring to leadership roles. This course is designed for those who wish to build their confidence, positively influence workplace culture and accelerate their career progression.

Course programme

A two-hour launch event – connect with your course leaders, other participants and learn more about what the programme will entail.

Four in-person, full-day training sessions held at IET Stevenage: Futures Place:

• Day 1: Leading from within – building your confidence as a credible leader and understanding the power of your own story.
• Day 2: Influence and equity – providing the tools and techniques for you to challenge biases, champion pay equity and lead everyday inclusion with confidence and clarity.
• Day 3: Career by design – empowering you to take ownership of your career and growth, developing resilience.
• Day 4: Power and presence – equipping you to expand your reach, raise your profile and inspire others.

Online post-programme day check-ins: small group discussions to embed learning and support real-world implementation.

Five 1:1 coaching sessions – tailored support from highly experienced leadership and executive coaches.

A half-day celebration event held at IET London: Savoy Place: recognising your achievements throughout the year and preparing you for the next steps on your leadership journey and meeting with cross-sector leaders

Post-programme mentoring opportunities and ongoing support, community, and connections.
