About

The My Skills My Life Ambassador training is a hands-on session designed to equip STEM professionals with the skills and confidence to deliver impactful outreach to young people, especially girls.

Participants learn how to use the My Skills My Life resource, develop inclusive and engaging sessions, and recognise themselves as role models who can inspire future STEM talent. The workshop also includes bias awareness, public speaking practice, and provides ambassador support and impact tracking.

On this course you will:

  • Learn how to run a My Skills My Life session
  • Discover the impact role models can have on young people
  • Understand how to use the My Skills My Life platform and recourses
  • Explore the career personality quiz and role model matching
  • Learn how bias affects young people’s perceptions of STEM
  • Recognise yourself as a STEM role model
  • Build confidence to speak publicly and lead STEM outreach sessions

Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting your outreach journey, this training will equip you with the tools, confidence, and resources to make a lasting impact. This course also links to section E of the Engineering Council’s UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).
