Jamila Bhaiji is a project consultant at Atkins specialising in environmental management mainly for the defence industry. Additionally, she works in the Net Zero and Social Value Advisory and Strategy space, supporting Atkins journey to Net Zero.  

Prior to taking her career break, Jamila has ten years of broad consulting experience in the Natural Resources industry as a Project Geologist carrying out Mineral Exploration and Resource Evaluation of Coal, Oil Shale and other mineral deposits in Canada, North and South America, South East Asia and Africa. During this time, she also worked as a geological engineer, providing Geotechnical and Geo-enviro engineering consulting services as part of a multidisciplinary team.  

She has a degree in Geological Engineering from Queens University Canada, with a specialism in geo-environmental engineering. She is passionate about ED&I (Equality Diversity & Inclusion) and prior to her career break, supported this passion through her membership with Women in Mining UK, and more recently with EMBRACE which is an employee driven initiative to influence change and support Atkins in better understanding the challenges faced by BAME (Black Asian Minority Ethnic) employees.
