Job titles are important. They help provide information on a person’s skillset and career history and, in a job advert, can be a key means of attracting the right talent.
A good job title should do the following:
- Provide a clear and accurate description of the role held (or advertised).
- Identify the level of the job.
- Be gender neutral.
- Avoid acronyms where possible.
- A good job title should indicate responsibilities.
