The answer to to the previous question ‘Which of the following statements is not true?’ is ‘women are more likely to opt for careers in STEM subjects than men’.
This answer should have been obvious since WISE wouldn’t exist if this was actually the case! Women are far less likely to choose a STEM career than men, despite the fact that those that do often find their work financially, socially, and intellectually rewarding.
The other statements reiterate either the lack of representation of diversity in the general workforce or the difficulties diverse people face:
- Just 53.2% of the 7.9 million working people with disabilities are currently in work.
- People from ethnic minority backgrounds are 10.7% less likely to find work than white people.
- 70% of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) workers having been racially harassed at work in the last five years.
