Whilst SYSTRA Ltd (UK & Ireland) is currently focused on growth in the markets of high-speed rail, conventional rail and metro/LRT, it also operates in other non-Transport sectors providing solutions for strategic Clients in areas such as Asset Management, Digital, Energy and Logistics.

We are dedicated to delivering excellence to our clients through our entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm whilst promoting a culture of listening, teamwork, and employee empowerment.

What projects / schemes / initiatives to support women’s recruitment, retention and progression in STEM are Systra involved in?

We continue to operate in a sector which is well known for having female under-representation and, whilst a great deal of focus is being given to encouraging woman to choose STEM careers, there is still a lot to be done to ensure we increase the number of woman across our workforce and particularly in senior positions. At Systra Ltd (UK & Ireland), we are fully committed to ensuring we deliver on our strategic intent to continue to build a talented, diverse and inclusive workforce. We do this by supporting and investing in wide reaching initiatives both internally to Systra Ltd. such as engaging actively with the Woman@Systra network group whilst also leveraging our external partners including WISE.

A comprehensive action plan has been developed to drive improvement across a range of areas including recruitment and attraction, learning & development and compensation review. This action plan is sponsored by the Executive team and monthly reporting track specific targets which are aimed at addressing the gender imbalance we currently experience across our workforce.

SYSTRA places particular focus in actively encouraging young females to think about STEM options as a career through education at an early age. We currently have a team of 50 STEM Ambassadors who support primary and high schools throughout the country discussing STEM topics and engaging in creative and thought-provoking activities for children to allow both male and female students to think about a career choice in the sector.
