Karen Blanc, Operations Lead, Atkins
Karen is the Operations Lead for Atkins’ Aberdeen oil and gas office, and the chair of Aberdeen-based gender balance action group, AXIS Network. She has a passion for people, and works in both of her roles to support and lead others to have enjoyable and successful careers where they can thrive.
Recognised as a fellow of the IChemE and as a chartered manager, Karen leads a high-performing multi-discipline engineering team, working to solve some of the North Sea’s most complex engineering problems. In her volunteer role as AXIS Network committee chair, Karen heads a thriving 1000-person strong network, leading the charge on educating and challenging local organisations to understand and remove systematic gender-related barriers to career progression in the energy industry, with a vision of achieving gender parity across the Aberdeen energy sector.
Having lived and worked in Malaysia, Vietnam, the UAE and Denmark, Karen is now settled in Aberdeen with her husband and two little boys. When she gets moment to herself you’ll find her playing touch rugby, or at CrossFit!
