Leeds College of Building (LCB) is unique. We’re the only further education college in the UK dedicated to construction and the built environment, making us nationally recognised for delivering courses and apprenticeships in this field.
Over the years we have built incredibly robust connections with leading regional, national and international construction organisations. Being able to tap into this network of expertise benefits all our students throughout their studies.
We teach our students the skills and knowledge that employers want. Our teaching and assessment teams, together with the College’s industry links means our curriculum mirrors the current and future needs of the industries within the construction and built environment sector. As a college we want to be at the forefront of emerging technologies and STEM subjects play a central part in this.
All careers within the construction and the built environment sector have links to STEM, including a civil engineer, quantity surveyor, electrician, plumber and bricklayer. The industry is facing a huge skills gap and inspiring and supporting females to consider a career in the industry is critical to reducing this.
We are committed to providing education services that promote equality, diversity and inclusion and safeguarding is central to the College’s mission and values.
Our female students are passionate about their career choices and are positive role models for the college and the industry. On top of this they regularly win national awards, including BTEC Apprentice of the Year and Women in Construction Apprentice of the Year.
It’s great to have the WISE team based at our Hunslet Campus and by joining the WISE campaign, collectively we can champion the role of women in construction, engineering and the built environment.
