Chartered Association of Building Engineers
Who are Chartered Association of Building Engineers?
Formed in 1925 as the Incorporated Association of Architects and Surveyors, the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) is a leading body for professionals specialising in the design, construction, evaluation and maintenance of buildings.
Its members practise across the United Kingdom, mainland Europe and around the World, and work in both the private and public sectors. The CABE provides the prime qualification of Building Engineer, a title that exactly reflects the professional expertise of members.
The Association was founded with the principal objectives to:
- promote and advance the knowledge, study and practice of each and all of the arts and sciences concerned with building technology, planning, design, construction, maintenance and repair of the built environment and the creation and maintenance of a high standard of professional qualification, conduct and practice.
- encourage and facilitate co-operation between the construction professions.
The Association was granted its Royal Charter in 2013.
What projects / schemes / initiatives to support women’s recruitment, retention and progression in STEM are Chartered Association of Building Engineers involved in?
CABE is involved in a number of leadership projects including participating in the Construction Industry Council’s Diversity Panel and 2050 Panel that encourages young people into the construction sector. This work is crucial for CABE and its members as it provides the foundations for a stronger voice to address diversity issues through a collaborative approach and working with other organisations.
CABE also holds a number of events that encourage women into the industry and supports industry partners to raise the profile of women’s achievements within the build environment.
To support the STEM agenda CABE partners with a range of educational institutions globally to address all diversity issues and educate students of all backgrounds about opportunities within the built environment.
Why did Chartered Association of Building Engineers join WISE?
