Creating better places is our purpose and our passion.
Our team of 17,000 works across four continents – making us a leading supplier of consulting and infrastructure support services both in the UK and internationally.
We’ve been in business for nearly 100 years. We’re proud of our long history and the difference we make; serving the communities we work in, whatever the weather and whatever the challenge.
We create safer, smarter, and sustainable places to live, work and travel. By designing, building, maintaining and investing in our country’s services and infrastructure we make a difference including engineering, facilities management, utilities, transport, environmental services, defence and justice.
We work in partnership with some of the world’s biggest asset owners. Helping them to make better decisions every day.
Decisions for assets like roads, railway lines, airports and bridges. Decisions that take into account long-term maintenance costs, as well as operational costs. So we won’t design a bridge that looks impressive but costs a fortune to run. We call this ‘clever engineering’. It’s ‘clever’ because we think about the safety requirements and the disruption costs. And because we have some really smart people turning complex data into real solutions every day.
As a major employer of engineers in the UK and overseas, we have a responsibility to engage with people of all ages and from all backgrounds, to let them know who we are, what we do, and to inspire them to see a career in Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) as a rewarding and realistic option for their future.
We encourage our staff to work with schools, businesses, not for profit organisations and charities to run and deliver various initiatives such as workshops, work experience/placements and careers advice and to help grow local engineering talent in your communities.
We have developed strategic partnerships to achieve greater breadth and depth in STEM activities than could be achieved working alone.
These include working with:
STEM Ambassadors: You can join over a hundred STEM Ambassadors and support schools, colleges and community groups that want more people to take up science, technology, engineering and maths in their studies and future careers.
Women@Amey: This network of over 400 member and is for anyone who wants to make sure that women and men are supported fairly in our workplace. The group delivers events and development opportunities throughout the year.
