Who are National House Building Council?
NHBC is the UK’s leading independent standard-setting body and provider of warranty and insurance for new homes. Established in 1936, currently ensures over 1.6m homes, with a market share of approximately 80% we have provided warrantly for around 30% of the total existing housing stock in the UK, covering about 7 million homes.
We are an independent, non-profit distributing company limited by guarantee - neither part of government, nor a charity. Our business is run by the Board of Directors with surpluses being re-invested in the improvement and development of our products and services.
With about 1,400 employees we are located in our Head Office in Milton Keynes, London, Scotland and Northern Ireland offices as well as home and field based employees. Our business spans across technical roles linked the house building industry, Claims teams and Customer Services as well central functions of Finance, Actuarial and Underwriting, Legal, Compliance, Risk, HR, Communications & Events, Marketing and Product Development.
NHBC, whilst a signficant majority of its business is to inspect new homes being buit across the UK, we are a regulated business with the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.

What projects / schemes / initiatives to support women's recruitment, retention and progression in STEM are National House Building Council involved in?
NHBC is currently developing a number of initiatives and links that support our Diversity agenda, which include links with key organisations including WISE.
We are proud signatories of the HMT Women in Finance Charter and have pledged to ensuring that 45% of our senior roles are filled by females by 2020.
We have also recently had two finalists at the Women Leaders in MK awards
