We hosted our 2024 WISE Conference on Wednesday, 16 October, at IET London: Savoy Place.

The theme of the day was ‘Let’s make it work for women: building an inclusive workplace for women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths)’. This year’s conference was a sellout event.

We welcomed more than 230 people as speakers, exhibitors and attendees, including our WISE members, students and other key organisations from the sector for a busy day.

STEM professionals and EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion) enthusiasts united to listen to experts within the field, share best practice and guidance on how we can make STEM a more inclusive place for women to work.

We focused on four key themes:

  • allyship
  • programmes,
  • progression, and
  • leadership.

Throughout the day we heard from excellent keynote speakers, insightful panellists and smaller learning and innovation breakout sessions with opportunities for audience participation through polls and questions.

The day also included plenty of time for networking and collaboration to make the most of this rare in-person time we had together.

We had the pleasure of being joined by our Patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal as she met with our exhibitors, sponsors and key WISE stakeholders to learn more about the work we’re doing to achieve gender parity in STEM.
