CPI-576-18: Senior Research Scientist – Nanomaterials & Composites
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum
Employment Type: Fixed Term until June 2020, 37 hours per week (flexible working hours may be considered)

The Centre for Process Innovation are seeking to recruit a Senior Research Scientist to prepare, test, develop, analyse and research elements in nanomaterials & composites, in line with the Formulation strategy and industry needs. As the Senior Research Scientist, you will be responsible for the technical delivery of projects and providing specific technical support to the Business Development Team. Duties of the role include:
- Discussing project needs; set up, plan and execute scientific experiments and analyse, interpret and report results to agreed timescales
- Provide clearly documented records of technical data, decisions, methodologies, calculations and software using an agreed format
- Contribute to the delivery of formulation projects through the provision of nanomaterials & composites knowledge
- Apply measurement techniques to demonstrate properties of nanomaterial based coatings & composite materials.
Candidates should be educated to at least Degree level in Chemistry/Physics (or related subject) or possess subsequent relevant experience, preferably having had industrial experience in the nanomaterials & composites area. Significant, demonstrated laboratory experience in nanomaterials and/or composite materials characterisation and a strong knowledge of composites resins and fibres chemistry and/or nanomaterial-based coatings is essential. The candidate will be able to effectively use Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
