Job description

Overview:

A social enterprise and membership organisation which generates its own income, WISE is growing fast as it develops relationships with an increasing number of members. The Membership Manager role is a fantastic opportunity to work in a high profile national organisation where you can make a difference to society.

Reporting to the WISE Membership Director, the Membership Manager will develop and manage relationships with WISE corporate members, maintaining and improving client relationships by honest and proactive communication through a variety of mediums including face to face visits, telephone calls, email, video calls and events.

Our membership has grown rapidly to over 200 members over the past 3 years, including companies, professional institutions, trade unions, colleges and universities. WISE is looking for help to continue to grow and support our WISE members who will work in partnership with us to get one million women into the science, technology and engineering workforce in the UK by 2020.

The Membership Manager will be a valuable addition to the growing WISE Membership team.

Terms:
Salary; £31,365 | 5% pension contribution for eligible employees. London weighting of £2,500 where applicable.

Location:
Home-based with flexibility to attend meetings and events throughout the UK as required and the WISE head office in Leeds.

Hours:

  • The post is full-time at 37 hours per week. Part-time working of no less than 30 hours may be considered.
  • Hours of work will be Monday to Friday office hours.
  • 25 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays
  • The role will be subject to a 6-month probationary period.
Job description

  • Recruiting new WISE corporate members through calls or meetings with prospects and production of associated membership proposals.
  • On-boarding new members and introducing them to WISE membership offering.
  • Supporting existing and new members to ensure high levels of membership renewal.
  • Strengthening existing partnerships to enhance revenue streams elsewhere in the organisation, for example, through training, workshops, sponsorship and any other relevant activities.
  • Keeping accurate records of relationship with members and actions on our database and file sharing systems.
  • Supporting activities for WISE members to share best practice through events, webinars and online platforms.
  • Involvement in other WISE projects and activities including the WISE Awards and WISE Conference.
  • To undertake any other duties as required.
The person

The successful candidate will have:
  • Proven experience of collaborative, partnership engagements
  • Experience of commercial business environments, membership organisations or another relevant sector
  • STEM sector knowledge
  • Enthusiasm for, and understanding of, the WISE cause
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK when required
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage a range of audiences
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Confidence in dealing with people from all backgrounds and all walks of life/business
  • Good interpersonal and team-working skills
  • Positive relationship building with clients, colleagues and external partners to leverage results
  • Accurate and efficient record keeping
  • Able to use their initiative and work with minimal supervision
