The University of Edinburgh is one of the world’s top 25 institutions of Higher Education and provides exceptional research, teaching, and living environments. The School of Engineering reflects all of the University’s principal characteristics, with a cosmopolitan academic staff numbering over 125, and with a body of 1,700 undergraduate and 640 postgraduate students from all over the world. We carry out internationally excellent teaching and research, attracting high-calibre students and an excellent level of research funding. We are now investing to strengthen and deepen our coverage of Chemical Engineering by appointment to: Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering.
The successful candidate will be internationally prominent in Chemical Engineering or will demonstrate strong potential to be so. The Institute for Multiscale Thermofluids (IMT) works at the forefront of research in multiphase, interfacial, and reacting flows, bridging the temporal and spatial scales between molecular processes and technological devices. The successful candidate will lead related experimental research, winning external research funding. This theme covers multiscale and multiphase fluid systems undergoing heat transfer, including topics such as phase change, wetting and associated capillary phenomena, and boiling (e.g. at microfluidic scales).
The level of appointment for the Lecturer / Senior Lecturer post will be determined by the selection panel.
The culture of the School of Engineering and the University is open and diverse and we are committed to reflecting that in our appointment process.
