Software Engineering Degree Apprenticeship

£17,942pa – Greater Manchester

At GCHQ, we use cutting-edge technology to protect the UK against a range of cyber threats. We’re looking for technically savvy and motivated individuals to join our BSc Honours Degree Apprenticeship scheme.

It’s a unique opportunity to build on your technical and software expertise, while protecting the UK from cyber threats, terrorism, espionage, and organised crime. You’ll gain the kind of experience that you won’t find on any university course.

Starting in September 2018, you’ll enjoy a unique mix of classroom based learning (university accredited) and placements in software related business areas. Over the course of the three years you’ll enjoy exhilarating, hands-on work to help us build and maintain some of the world's most sophisticated electronic equipment. Ultimately, you’ll be part of a team that ensures the UK Government can operate in cyber space with confidence and can stay ahead of the pace demanded by the evolving digital world.

With our state-of-the-art facilities and the support of mentors, you’ll take on real business challenges. And after three years, you’ll graduate with a BSc Honours Degree in Digital and Technology Solutions (Software development).

What you’ll need

Motivated and technically orientated, you have (or will gain by September 2018) three A-levels at BBC or above two of which must be in Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths (STEM) or equivalent qualifications in STEM subjects. Although a keen interest in programming and technology would be advantageous, it is not essential as you will have the opportunity to develop these skills on the apprenticeship.
