Our client requires a talented, innovative and motivated candidate with a background in Software Development and knowledge of working in various areas of the SDLC, who will contribute to the team with new ideas and who is open to and willing to adapt to business needs. The main focus for this role is to help develop our client’s 3D Design applications for their Plant and Marine products and overall System Architecture.

Team Structure and Overview

The Software Engineer is responsible for implementing high quality software components in accordance with project requirements and overall system architecture. You will be applying the Agile methodology to the development cycle and collaborate with fellow members of the Scrum team such as other developers, testers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Stakeholders to ensure software delivery is on time, feature completed and to agreed quality standards and actively participate in all scrum meetings: planning and estimating; sprint reviews & retrospectives; daily stand-ups; backlog maintenance.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Producing innovative design against challenging user and performance requirements, Ensuring test design proposals are reviewed and approved by appropriate review authorities at each stage of the implementation and its evolution
  • Ensuring all code is fully reviewed, unit tested and documented. Participate and comment in review sessions (walkthroughs, spec and coding reviews).
  • Providing prototypes where appropriate to explore and verify design proposals
  • Implementing approved designs and ensuring adherence to product quality and acceptance criteria
  • Assisting with the administration and resolution of support and maintenance issues
  • Working with adaptive development methodology to deliver systems that exceed customer expectations and achieve the highest quality
  • Documenting and reporting progress to the Development Manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

  • Development experience using languages including C++ and C#.
  • Visual Studio / .Net tools
  • Knowledge of Windows architecture
  • Object oriented programming
  • Database driven solutions
  • Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or Maths/Physics related

Any of the following skills will be beneficial:

  • Experience of developing 3D graphical applications in OpenGL / DirectX
  • Knowledge of computational geometry and programming design pattern fundamentals
  • Experience of task based, multi site configuration management, e.g. Clearcase, TFS, Git
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and build systems e.g. TFS, Jenkins
