Title Engineering Apprentice

Reports to Production Manager and / or Supervisor
The Cartwright Group is a fast growing vehicle and trailer manufacturing company based in Broadheath, Altrincham. We design and manufacture a range of commercial vehicle conversions, including HGV trailers, HGV and van conversions. We have a wide variety of clients in the transport and logistics sector including ASDA, Royal Mail and TNT to name a few.
The Apprenticeship programme
Together with our education provider, The Cartwright Group has developed a 2-year apprenticeship programme leading to a Level 2 Engineering Apprenticeship. On successful completion of Level 2 and subject to interest and aptitude there will be opportunity for some to continue to Level 3 and ultimately HND level.
How does this work for you?
This is the start of a long-term career opportunity where you will gain the experience of building our products from scratch. You will learn the whole build process, working in all the major manufacturing stages before you select an area to specialise. You will be supported throughout your training by working alongside skilled employees. Our Production Managers and Supervisors will coordinate the programme. They all have extensive experience in engineering and manufacturing and many commenced their working career as a Cartwright Apprentice.
On the job training
Working within the Cartwright production process you will work 2-3 months at each of the major manufacturing stages including fabrication, chassis building, chassis assembly, body building, finishing and testing.
Following your rotation through the departments, you will be able to specialise within one area and develop your skills further.
Day release college training
As part of the apprenticeship you will go to college on day / block release where you will receive workshop training to assist you with achieving the required standards for the Level 2 apprenticeship.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain a qualification with long term prospects while being paid a salary (above the current minimum wage for Apprentices!). Learning how to work in a business through day-to-day practical work combined with college workshop training.
