Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Electrochromic Materials Chemistry
£26,290 - £32,299 p.a.
Fixed term appointment for 3 years, Full time
Ref: R2981

The School of Applied Sciences at the University of Huddersfield is seeking to appoint a PDRA in Electrochromic Materials Chemistry. The main focus of the research programme will be the synthesis, purification and characterization of series of electrochromic heterocyclic compounds. The electrochromic heterocycles will be designed so as to exhibit a broad range of intense colours upon activation and possess good reversibility. It is anticipated that, after protection of intellectual property, selected molecules may be synthesised on the multi-gram scale as part of the sponsor’s commercialisation programme. You will be expected to help run a team of postgraduate students and undertake some demonstrating / teaching.

You will hold a First or Upper second class honours degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Heterocyclic Chemistry or be near to completion. You will also have experience in the synthesis, purification and characterization of heterocyclic molecules and their precursors.

The School is committed to Athena SWAN principles and the promotion of equality and diversity and is proud to hold a Bronze Athena SWAN award.

The post holder will report to Professor Mark Heron and Dr Chris Gabbutt.
