GSK’s Cell & Gene Therapy Platform CMC team is being expanded to support an increasing portfolio of cell and gene therapies. The team is responsible for delivering the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) aspects of the projects from early phase to launch and the development of innovative technologies to enable step-change improvements to cell & gene therapy manufacture.

A position is available for a Senior Scientist in the Process Development team within Cell and Gene Therapy. The successful individual will work within a team that is focused on the delivery of a sustainable platform to produce a Lentivirus vector.

As our process understanding increases and our capabilities expand, we need to perform and develop assays required to support development.
For this position experience in mammalian cell cultures transductions and functional based assays is essential.

Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will be involved with a range of activities including
Perform and interpret assay results to develop strategies for robust Lentivirus production.
Work with colleagues as required to perform small and large scale Lentivirus experiments
Provide assay support, as required, with colleagues involved in downstream activities.
Support activities to develop additional in-process assays for further development.

Basic qualifications:
B.Sc. in biology or equivalent (cell biology, biochemistry virology)
Experience in the following areas is expected
Analytical method development/validation for a biopharmaceutical or biologics based product.
Possess laboratory experience in the culture of mammalian cells.
Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
Be flexible to respond to changing priorities and business direction.
Ability to effectively communicate, with strong writing and verbal skills
Attention to detail, and a desire to learn

Preferred qualifications:
Demonstration of a range of biological techniques including
Experience in assay development.
An understanding of assay validation.
An understanding of the Biological and drug discovery processes
