This role will be based at our Global head office in Brentford, Middlesex, UK.

Our global manufacturing and supply (GMS) teams are responsible for making and shipping the products that help people do more, feel better, live longer. We have more than 27,000 people in GMS, across 86 sites in 36 countries. Together, these people help to produce 4 billion packs of medicine.
We are currently seeking a Category Manager with a remit to play a pivotal role in the delivery of functional and operational best practice and the implementation of BAU and project work across the Production Procurement organisation with a focus on Learning and Development.

The successful applicant will develop a global Learning and Development strategy in close collaboration with the regional teams to ensure full alignment of regional requirements and a comprehensive approach to the management of the spend category.
The global strategy will take full account of all regional, market, and stakeholder requirements while leveraging global view and opportunities.
Key accountabilities;

Strategy creation & execution
•Create comprehensive world class global and regional sourcing strategy for Learning & Development to identify market innovations and disruptive technologies.
•Partner with suppliers to drive continuous improvement, innovation and performance.
Create and implement communication strategy to ensure engagement for delivery of strategy
•Initiate and lead processes to enable regional and local Procurement representatives to input regional and local business requirements and market dynamic information. Build understanding of how global and regional strategies affect local markets to ensure successful adoption.

Benefit delivery:
•Take accountability for delivery of the financial/savings plan (including OPEX). Deliver global and regional benefits identified in strategies through effective strategy execution, aligned to assurance of supply (risk management), quality, service, cost and innovation.
•Create and deliver effective regional and global budgets (Plans of Purchase) agreed with key stakeholders and Finance in accordance with the Spend Management Framework and fully aligned with global budgets
•Deliver local and in country benefits ensuring local and in country Finance and affected business units are fully engaged
•Influence key global and regional stakeholders and business partners to support strategy development, endorse recommended strategies, support execution and agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted

External supplier relationships
•Build strategic relationships with key suppliers. Ensure global and regional considerations are accounted for in supplier relationships. Leverage the Business Review Meeting process to drive the relationship.
•Negotiate, create, execute and manage effective global and regional contracts with suppliers (where required) that will allow GSK to maximize opportunity globally. Ensure regional considerations are taken into account in global supplier negotiations and contracts
•Lead global and regional strategy and supply base reviews for Learning & Development.

PAY – We will reward your contributions to GSKs success through your salary, bonus or sales incentives, and recognition awards.

Competitive Base Salary – Your salary is paid monthly on the 20th day of the month (or nearest business day) It is reviewed each year to ensure it stays competitive and reflects your performance and contribution to GSK’s strategy.

Annual Target Bonus – Your individual performance is worth 60% if your total bonus and is based on the achievement of your personal objectives. The high level results of your business area is worth 40% of your total bonus.

Share Reward – Share reward allows you to invest up to 5% (maximum of £125)of your salary each month in GSK shares and receive a free share for every share you buy.

GSK Pension Plan – You automatically become a member of the GSK pension plan when you join GSK. An account is opened in your name and GSK contributes a core amount of 7% of your pensionable salary into your account each month. You are also required to make a contribution of 2%, GSK will match any contributions you make up to a maximum of 3% of your pensionable salary (total contributions up to 15%)
