DESCRIPTION:Exclusive\, In-Person Event for Core\, Premium & Strategic WISE Members. \nJoin us in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales for this exclusive WISE event\, available to high-level WISE members. Take part in rich discussions on gender parity in the STEM sectors\, and gain a clear insight into how your organisation is performing against the WISE Ten Steps framework. \nTo celebrate the return of this in-person Measuring Progress Event\, WISE member Skipton Building Society will be hosting with a Yorkshire theme\, offering a taste of the local cuisine and of course a sparkle of northern hospitality. \n  \nAs always\, the WISE MPE is a major opportunity to take part in key discussions and hear answer to questions such as: \nHow do we recruit more women into STEM? \nHow do we retain these women? \nHow do we ensure they are given equal development opportunities? \nRegister Here\nYou will hear from keynote speakers from WISE’s membership base\, who will give an insight into their biggest challenges and successes in EDI over the last year. Breakout sessions to consolidate learning and further facilitate sharing of best practice will follow. \nSpeakers\n \nShagufta Sharif \nShagufta Sharif is the current Diversity\, Inclusion and Wellbeing Lead at Skipton Building Society. She has over 10 years’ experience designing and implementing Diversity and inclusion initiatives across the charity\, public and private sector. This has included WISE\, Girlguiding and Department for Transport. Shagufta is passionate about D&I and regularly speaks at events and conferences and delivers training on D&I topics.  \n  \nHilary Royston-Bishop  \nHilary is the Research and Development Manager at Sellafield Ltd and is responsible for managing the long term R&D needs to support decommissioning one of the most complex Nuclear sites in the world. She is a physicist by training having studied Physics and Astrophysics at the University of Birmingham and then completed a Masters in the Physics and Technology of Nuclear Reactors.   \nShe is also the lead for Sellafield’s relationship with the WISE Campaign\, she is the training and skills lead for Women in Nuclear (Cumbria) and is also involved in Sellafield’s Gender Balance Network. Hilary was awarded Women In Nuclear’s 2023 Champion of the year for the work she has done on improvements to gender balance in Cumbria’s Nuclear Industry.  \nHilary has two daughters (aged 7 and 5) and it is because of them that she became involved in gender balance work; with a desire to challenge the status quo and make working experiences better. Specifically so no-one else experiences being walked in on when expressing milk in the workplace!   \n \nAlan Rankin \nAlan is the Diversity\, Inclusion\, Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead at Sellafield\, and has leads a small team of D&I Advisers\, who are driving and embedding inclusion into the business.  He has over 30 years experience in HR\, in both the nuclear and steel industries and is a Fellow of the CIPD.  Alan is a Committee Member of Cumbria Women in Nuclear and is Chair of Trustees and Safeguarding Lead at a large secondary academy.  He also chairs the Cumbria Police\, Fire and Crime Commissioners Ethics and Integrity Panel\, and Chairs the Cumbria Police Independent Assurance Group.  \nAlan was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022 by Diverse Cumbria in recognition of the work he has led in inclusion in his current roles\, and in previous roles volunteering with Young Enterprise and other school governance roles in both the primary sector and for a multi academy trust.  \nAlan has two daughters aged 17 and 20\, who are both at college/university and is passionate about improving workplaces for everyone\, removing barriers and obstacles for people\, and enabling people to be the best they can be\, whatever skills\, attributes or characteristics they have.   \nRegister Here\nSending your Pre-Event Diagnostic \nYour gender balance success starts with successful benchmarking\, and seeing how your organisation is performing against the Ten Steps framework. Prior to the WISE MPE\, we invite you to complete your diagnostic\, which you can access here.  \nThe deadline for diagnostic submission is Friday 29 September 2023.
