Who are EDF Renewables?
EDF Renewables is one of the UK and Ireland’s leading renewable energy companies, specialising in wind power, solar and battery storage technology. We develop, build, operate and maintain renewable technologies throughout their lifetime and currently have a portfolio of 36 wind farms – including two offshore wind farms – and two battery storage sites.
At EDF Renewables our purpose is to accelerate a net-zero future where clean energy powers our lives. Our people are passionate about developing the low-carbon energy systems of the future and acting against climate change. We are an inclusive and diverse business; we recognise that our differences make us stronger and increase our ability to innovate and succeed quickly. We challenge ourselves to continuously improve in order to achieve our purpose, while rewarding work and recognizing the contribution each of our employees makes to achieving our goals.
What projects / schemes / initiatives to support women’s recruitment, retention and progression in STEM are EDF Renewables involved in?
Making sure everyone feels welcome at EDF Renewables is really important to us. All of our job descriptions are checked through a gender de-coder to ensure our job roles are not using certain words that may deter female applicants. We also utilise value-based interview questions and try to ensure a diverse interview panel, where possible.
In addition, we also run talent programmes within our organisation which specifically focus on women and their development to provide support and guidance for women on how to progress their career and move within our organisation.
We also have our very own women’s network which we launched in 2022 as part of International Women’s Day. This is ran by our employees and aims to provide a conduit for confidence for all, whether that be women themselves, male peers or male managers. The aim is to help women by providing them with support as well as helping males be allies for women.
Why did EDF Renewables join WISE?
“At EDF Renewables, everyone’s welcome and we are proud to be WISE members. As an employer we are committed to ensuring that our workforce is a true reflection of our communities and customers and have the ambition to achieve 40% women across all levels of our business by 2030.”
