We are delighted to introduce Kay Hussain, our new Chief Executive of WISE. Kay joins WISE from her previous role as a Managing Director in the Pharmaceutical industry.
Having started her career as a scientist, Kay now has 17 years of leadership experience in STEM based organisations.
Trudy Norris-Grey, Chair of WISE, says: “I’m delighted to welcome Kay to our team and look forward to working alongside her. Together, we will continue to ensure that every girl and woman has the opportunity to fulfil their potential in STEM by helping employers understand the benefits of diversity, how to create inclusive workplace cultures and give more women opportunities to shape our future.”
For a number of years, Kay has inspired others in her capacity as a STEM Ambassador and Business Mentor, working with schools, colleges and universities to encourage students to consider a career in science, technology and engineering. She has also introduced successful STEM programmes into various businesses.
Kay says of her new role: “I am looking forward to working with the WISE team and members at a time when diversity and inclusion must be absolutely central to our recovery from the current global situation. We have seen rapid change in the way we work, communicate and innovate over the last year, and many employers are now looking at how they can develop the skills to innovate, develop resilience and meet the future demands of their customers and investors. It is a challenging time, but also an exciting time to further build on the work that has seen a record 1 million women now working in STEM.”
