The answer to the previous question, ‘which of the following is a good job title?’ is ‘sales manager within the business development team‘.
This provides a clear indication of the role, where it sits in the organisation and the level of seniority. Similarly it is gender neutral.
The other examples each have their own problems: ‘chairman of the board ‘does not work as well as ‘board chairperson‘; VP of the BACS division might be meaningful for internal employees but external recruits will have no idea what these acronyms stand for! Similarly ‘officer department lead in front office‘ is confusing since it doesn’t clearly indicate seniority and external candidates won’t know what the front office means in terms of job role.
