WISE Celebration of Talented Women in Wales 2017

WISE Celebration of Talented Women in Wales 2017

13 March 2017

The WISE Celebration of Talented Women Conference, will take place on Monday 13 March 2017 and will be held at The Senedd - National Assembly for Wales (pictured above). This invite only event will mark International Women’s Day by celebrating the fabulous contribution women in Wales are making in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

The aim of the event, one-year on from the launch of the 'Talented Women for a Successful Wales' report is to capture the excitement, rewards and growing opportunities for women with STEM qualifications. The event will be an opportunity for education, business and public sector partners to share practical initiatives which are making a difference to the recruitment, retention and advancement of women scientists and engineers in Wales.

“We are taking positive steps to increase girls’ engagement in the study of STEM subjects, linked to the actions set out in the Talented Women report. To make the difference I want to see, our teaching professionals need further support. That is why the National Networks for Excellence in STEM, which I announced in recent months, are being tasked to consider gender equity. Our teaching workforce has clear influence on young people’s study choices, engagement and progression, so it is essential those working in STEM in our schools are supported to enhance girls’ experiences of relevant, inclusive and stimulating STEM learning.”
Kirsty Williams AM, Cabinet Secretary for Education, Welsh Government
