Research Associate for project: Open BIM (Building Information Modelling) IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) standard and supporting platform development for water transportation (IFC for Harbour)

Cardiff University (BIM Building Information Modelling group) are working with CCCC (China Communications Construction Company Ltd.), buildingSMART, AEC3, Royal HaskoningDHV, RDF Ltd. (http://rdf.bg/), SCOPE Japan, Louis Berger USA, and Waldeck UK on a new research project - Open BIM (Building Information Modelling) IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) standard and supporting platform development for water transportation (IFC for Harbour) – to develop IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) Maritime standards (https://www.buildingsmart.org/). We are looking for candidates to work on this project as a Research Associate in Cardiff University. The candidate needs to have a PhD (or nearing completion / submission) in Civil / Construction engineering / Computer science, with extensive BIM (Building Information Modelling) knowledge, excellent ICT (Information and Communications Technology) & programming capability, and extensive IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) development experiences.
This post is available from 1 February 2018 and is fixed term for 1 year at 21 hours per week for 4 months (60%) and 35 hours per week for 8 months (100%).
Salary: £32,548 - £38,833 per annum (Grade 6). It is not anticipated that an appointment be made above £32,548 per annum, point 30.
