The Council for Assisting Refugee Academics (CARA)

CREST is a project-based awards scheme for the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths) giving 11-19yr olds opportunities to explore real-world projects in an exciting way.

Offers three or four year sponsorship to undergraduate students studying Electrical (Energy) Engineering at the Universities of Nottingham, Bristol or Newcastle.

First Women Awards
The UK’s premium awards programme focused on senior-level business women and professionals. The First Women Awards are open to all women in business in the UK. Nominations can be made by the individual herself or by a professional colleague.
The Fran Trust funds scholarly activity in the fields of feminism, gender or women's studies. The Trust provides small grants of up to £500 for postgraduate students studying at UK universities to attend and present papers on a gender-related topic at academic conferences in the UK.
Gilchrist Educational Trust
Grants to Individuals and Organisations. The Trust supports a number of small or medium-sized British expeditions with teams of three or more proposing to carry out research of a scientific nature in another country. The biennial Gilchrist Fieldwork Award of £15,000 is offered every even-numbered year for the best overseas research proposal by a small team of qualified scientists or academics in the U.K.

Grants for horticulturalists

HEFCE Postgraduate Support Scheme
2014-2015 Postgraduate students at more than 40 universities can receive support through the HEFCE Postgraduate Support Scheme, a £25 million publicly-funded programme. Some funding includes support for women in STEM, including the University of Bath.
Helen Kennedy Foundation
There are two programmes: Bursaries are available to students currently studying at a FE college or sixth form college and applying to enter university. The second program is for asylum seekers, refugees and those with indefinite or discretionary leave to remain. The program provides fee waivers to students studying at the participating Universities.
Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
In 2013, the IET provided over £1,000,000 in awards, prizes and scholarships to celebrate excellence, innovation and encouragement of the next generation of engineers and technicians. The IET will maintain this investment in 2014 with its portfolio of awards which includes Diamond Jubilee scholarships, Apprentice and Technician awards, scholarships in India, the Present around the World competition and the IET A F Harvey Engineering Research Prize.

The programme recognises the achievements and contributions of exceptional females across the globe, by awarding promising scientists with Fellowships to help further their research.
The National Science + Engineering Competition

ORSAS was set up by the Secretary of State for Education and Science in 1979 to attract high-quality international students to the United Kingdom to undertake research.

Range Rover Evoque WISE Scholarship
This award runs each year for 3 years from 2013 - information is published in the Spring of each year. An exciting collaboration between Jaguar Land Rover and WISE to offer sponsorship to three female scholars wishing to pursue engineering at University or as an apprentice.

Royal Meteorological Society
The Rupert Ford Award is awarded to outstanding young scientists from any part of the world to enable them to undertake research work or study in meteorology or associated physical oceanography. The Legacies Fund is made up of small monetary grants made to members (usually younger scientists) to help finance expeditions, carry our research or attend meteorological conferences.
Royal Microscopial Society
The Society operates an annual bursary fund that supports its members to attend conferences and workshops both at home and overseas.

Traditional Building Skills Bursary Scheme

Very Early Career Woman Physicist Prize
The Women in Physics Group invites applications from women at the start of their careers in physics who have made a substantial contribution to the subject and have undertaken activities to support and encourage others in the field. The prize is awarded annually.
Supports research into all aspects of biomedical science.
Apply for a grant of up to £500 if you are a women living in Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and want to study for a job or opportunity in science and technology. This includes manual trades from electrical engineering and car mechanics through to plumbing and construction.
Winston Churchill Memorial Trust
