Single Sex Teaching

In a Class of Their Own publication

Can teaching science in single sex classes within co-educational schools improve the female take-up of post-16 science, engineering and technology courses?

Recently, WISE commisioned some original research into this matter and the findings have been published in the guide to good practice In a Class of Their Own?. The guide includes case studies of some of the schools that took part in the research and outlines the impression that single sex teaching had on both teachers and pupils. This includes the pros and cons.

The guide to good practice will be useful reading to any school considering this issue with the objective of raising the attainment of all pupils.
