Two prizes of £750 are given to women who are active and committed to the world of engineering who not only study the discipline but are also enthusiastic and dedicated to becoming an engineer. Students must be in their penultimate year of study when applying and be studying an engineering discipline to undergraduate level at a UK institution, full-time or part-time. There are no age or nationality restrictions.

If you are a young woman in the sixth form or studying Scottish Highers and are interested in finding out about what it takes to become an engineer then Insight could be the course for you! Successful applicants will spend a week at university, staying in student accommodation and meeting others with similar interests. You will have opportunities to find out about different fields of engineering, spend a day with an engineering company and meet other women who have studied and are making successful careers in engineering. You can have fun, while discovering about university life, problem solving and teamwork.
Courses are available at eight universities across Britain with the opportunity for some applicants being selected to attend a course in Finland. Costs are no more than £50.00 for the UK courses and up to £100.00 for Finland.

A design challenge for secondary schools sponsored by Jaguar, BAE Systems and Denford. In teams, students are required to design and manufacture the fastest F! car using CAD and CAM. There are various levels of entry involving different classes and criteria for entry.

Web-based team design exercise for 16-18 year olds. Carrying a top prize of £5,000, the best teams are invited to spend four days at Cranfield University studying aircraft design and piloting fixed wing aircraft adn helicopters.

The WISE Outlook programme is a three-day programme run at local colleges, enabling Year 9 girls (age 13/14) to experience engineering first-hand.
The girls take part in hands-on engineering projects, designing and making something for themselves, work in teams to develop presentational skills, talk to women students and staff from technical colleges and meet women engineers to talk about their work and careers.
